Abstract:
O presente trabalho investiga a relação entre as variações nos índices de preços e as variações na taxa de câmbio, analisando o efeito pass-through cambial. Para tanto, utilizaramse variáveis no horizonte temporal de janeiro de 1999 a dezembro de 2011, com o objetivo de captar o início da mudança de regime cambial na economia brasileira, e, assim, estimou-se um Vetor Autorregressivo (VAR) inferindo o impulso resposta, decomposição da variância, assim como o teste de causalidade de Granger. Além disso, verificam-se as elasticidades de longo e curto prazo do efeito de repasse cambial através do modelo Autorregressivo com Lags Distribuídos (ARDL). Com base nos resultados encontrados, acredita-se que o pass-through cambial afeta de forma mais contundente os preços no atacado do que os preços domésticos, sendo que os primeiros possuem uma maior sensibilidade no curto e longo prazo em relação às variações cambiais
This work investigates the relationship between changes in price indexes and changes in
the exchange rate by analyzing the eff ect of the exchange rate pass-through. For this purpose, we used variables from January 1999 to December 2011, aiming to capture the beginning of the change of exchange rate regime in the Brazilian economy, and thus, we estimated a Vector Auto-Regression (VAR) inferring the impulse response, the decomposition of variance, and the Granger causality test. Furthermore, we examined the long and short-term elasticities of the eff ect of the exchange rate pass-through by means of the Auto-Regressive Model with Distributed Lags (ARDL). Based on these results, we
believe that the exchange rate pass-through aff ects more strongly wholesale prices than domestic prices, while the former have a higher short and longrun sensitivity in relation to exchange rate changes.
