Abstract:
A evolução tecnológica possibilitou, entre outras coisas, a informatização de atividades das bibliotecas, principalmente na gestão de seu acervo. Uma dessas ferramentas é o software livre Koha, criado na Nova Zelândia, tornando-se o mais utilizado no mundo. Entretanto, no Brasil ainda não é tão conhecido e utilizado se comparado a outros, principalmente nas bibliotecas universitárias. Assim, o presente estudo pesquisou sobre o Koha no Brasil, por meio de estudo documental, com o cunho qualitativo. Com isso, como um dos principais resultados da análise pode-se mapear as instituições usuárias do software, mesmo com a pequena quantidade de publicações sobre o koha no país. Revela-se, dessa forma, a necessidade de maior divulgação para fomentar o uso e estudos sobre essa ferramenta.
Technological evolution has made it possible, among other things, to computerize the activities of libraries, mainly in the management of their collections. One of these tools is the free software Koha, created in New Zealand, making it the most used in the world. However, in Brazil it is still not as well known and used when compared to others, mainly in university libraries. Thus, the present study aims to research studies on Koha in Brazil, through documentary study, with a qualitative approach. with that, as one of the main results of the analysis, it is possible to map the institutions that use the software, even with the small amount of publications about koha in the country. In this way, it is revealed that it is more popular to encourage the use and studies on this tool.
