Abstract:
A pesquisa tem como finalidade conhecer o papel social dos bibliotecários como mediadores das atividades em prol da comunidade rio-grandina, com o objetivo geral verificar de que forma os bibliotecários da Prefeitura Municipal do Rio Grande – RS contribuem para a comunidade na área da educação, cultura, lazer, social e informacional. Trata-se de uma exploratória, a qual fundamenta-se em observar, registrar e analisar um determinado fato, sem entrar no mérito do conteúdo do mesmo. Para a coleta de dados foi enviado um questionário via e-mail aos 28 bibliotecários da Prefeitura Municipal do Rio Grande – RS, o qual apenas sete responderam. Foram discutidas as temáticas: papel social do bibliotecário, biblioteca escolar, biblioteca pública, incentivo à leitura e envolvendo as diretrizes da IFLA. Nos resultados foram constatadas uma variedade de atividades promovidas nas bibliotecas e assim, concluiu-se que esses bibliotecários estão cumprindo com o papel cultural, educativo, social e esportivo.
The research aims to understand the social role of librarians as mediators of activities in favor of the Rio Grande community, with the general objective of verifying how the librarians of the Municipality of Rio Grande - RS contribute to the community in the area of education, culture, leisure, social and informational. It is an exploratory, which is based on observing, recording and analyzing a certain fact, without entering into the merits of its content. For data collection, a questionnaire was sent via e-mail to the 28 librarians of the Municipality of Rio Grande - RS, to which only seven responded. The themes were discussed: social role of the librarian, school library, public library, incentive to reading and involving the IFLA guidelines. The results showed a variety of activities promoted in the libraries and thus, it was concluded that these librarians are fulfilling their cultural, educational, social and sporting role.
