Variação climatológica não-sazonal através da análise de componentes principais

Abstract

Meteorological data measured in Rio Grande was subjected to principal component (PC) analysis which yielded a strong influence of the seasonal variation. This research evaluates which is the resulting relationship among the ten variables after the removal of the seasonal component. Three different methods were applied to remove this compo-nent. Spectra analysis demonstrated that the three point trigonometric method was the only one to remove it, while keeping all others components unchanged. The PC analysis was applied and four PC where chosen, representing tem-perature and humidity; insolation, evaporation, and precipitation; pressure and zonal component; and meridional com-ponent of wind velocity.
