Bibliotecas públicas infantis: histórias de ontem e hoje.

Abstract

O presente artigo apresenta parte dos resultados de uma pesquisa de mestrado e busca discutir a biblioteca pública para infância. Em diálogo com o contexto político nacional, lança-se luz e foco para dois projetos de livro e leitura: a Biblioteca Infantil do Distrito Federal e a Biblioteca Parque da Rocinha. O primeiro projeto foi idealizado e fundado por Cecília Meireles, em 1934,e configura-se como a primeira biblioteca pública infantil do Brasil. O segundo projeto, inaugurado em 2012, nasce como um centro cultural que privilegia a leitura em diferentes suportes. Espaços que surgem em diferentes contextos históricos, mas que se destacam pela concepção inovadora de biblioteca ao possibilitarem o encontro com a palavra escrita, o teatro, a mídia audiovisual e eletrônica. Equipamentos culturais desejados, mas nem sempre acessíveis às classes populares.

This article presents part of the results of a master's research and seeks to discuss the public library for children. In dialogue with the national political context, light and focus are shed on two book and reading projects: the Children's Library of the Federal District and the Parque da Rocinha Library. The first project was conceived and founded by Cecília Meireles in 1934 and is the firstpublic children's library in Brazil. The second project, opened in 2012, was born as a cultural center that favors reading in different media. Spaces that emerge in different historical contexts, but that stand out for the innovative conception of the library when allowing the encounter with the written word, the theater, the audiovisual and electronic media. Desired cultural facilities, but not always accessible to the popular classes.
