Caracterização ambiental do espaço agrário na região noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

A ocupação do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, em especial das áreas de colonização, por imigrantes europeus, revela que a agricultura desenvolvida nas áreas de mata representou o primeiro embate da atividade agrícola com os recursos naturais, gerado pelo processo de desmatamento. A evolução e o agravamento dos problemas ambientais nessa região relacionam-se às mudanças nas formas de produzir e no tipo de culturas desenvolvidas. A alta produtividade da terra conseguida no início da colonização, por causa da fertilidade natural dos solos de mata, esgotou-se e inseriu-se no setor agrário, um novo modelo de produção, com base na introdução de agro químicos, agravando os problemas ambientais, sob várias formas: esgotamento dos solos, assoreamento e poluição dos rios, além das repercussões de ordem social (exclusão social agrária).

The occupation of the state of the Rio Grande do Sul, in special of the colonization areas, for european immigrants, it discloses that the agriculture developed in the forest areas, it represented the first shock of the agricultural activity with the natural resources, generated for the deforestation process. The evolution and the aggravation of the environment problems in this region become related it the changes in the forms to produce and the type of developed cultures. The high productivity of the land obtained in the beginning of the colonization, because of the natural fertility of bush ground, if it depleted and it was inserted in the agrarian sector, a new model of production, on the basis of the introduction of acre-chemical, aggravating the ambient problems, under some forms: exhaustion of ground deposition of sediment, and pollution of the rivers, beyond the repercussions of social order (agrarian social exclusion).
