Abstract:
Ao analisarmos os escritos de Assis Chateaubriand e Sérgio Buarque de Holanda entre 1929 e 1932, percebemos que as afirmações de ambos não eram incongruentes e sim partes de um projeto maior de política, ancorado principalmente sobre os princípios de liberdade e de democracia. No pensamento chateaubriano e buarquiano, como analisaremos aqui, ambos os princípios são intimamente interdependentes, pois liberdade não seria alcançável em um Estado ditatorial.
By analyzing the writings of Assis Chateaubriand and Sergio Buarque de Holanda between 1929 and 1932, their claims were found not to be inconsistent, but rather a part of a wider political project, primarily grounded on the principles of freedom and democracy. In their thoughts, these principles are intimately dependent on each other, given that freedom would not be achievable in a dictatorial State.
