Percepção de graduandos de diferentes gerações em relação à educação a distância

Abstract

O presente artigo tem por objetivo investigar a percepção dos estudantes de graduação sobre a modalidade a distância, considerando as suas diferentes gerações (Baby Boomers, X, Y) e as especificidades dos Programas de EaD que vivenciam. A análise quantitativa dos dados coletados através de um instrumento de avaliação mostrou que nas três gerações houve participação maior do gênero feminino e que a geração Baby Boomers apresentou participação equilibrada entre os programas. A identificação do perfil dos estudantes permite apontar que um dos desafios da EaD é a integração das diferentes gerações que, ao interagirem, podem dividir experiências umas com as outras, fazendo com que as diferenças sejam produtoras de novas formas de convivência. Neste mesmo sentido, na organização dos cursos de graduação da EaD, no que se refere ao formato do material didático e às formas de comunicação entre estudantes, tutores e professores é preciso considerar a heterogeneidade das gerações.

This paper aims at investigating the perception of undergraduate students enrolled in distance education (DE), considering their different generations (Baby Boomers, X and Y), as well as the particularities of DE programs (UAB and Pró-Licenciatura) they experience. The quantitative analysis performed through the application of an assessment instrument showed that in all three age groups the presence of women were higher, the Baby Boomer generation had a balanced participation between UAB and Pró-Licenciatura programs. The profile identification of students allows indicating that one of the distance education challenges is the integration of these diferente generations, once they interact they may share experiences and cope with each other, producing new ways of living together. In this sense, the organization of undergraduate DE courses needs to consider the heterogeneity of generations, especially regarding to the teaching material format and the communication means among students, tutors and professors.
