Abstract:
A abordagem dominante no estudo das redes de organizações tem privilegiado os elementos estruturais, tanto na vertente econômica quanto na sociológica. Os aspectos relacionais têm sido considerados ou de forma tangencial, ou como empecilhos à eficiência no desempenho dos arranjos. Conflitos internos têm sido tratados como ruídos ou como disfunções que devem ser combatidas através de uma estrutura de “governança”. Ou seja, buscando “ver” a rede como uma forma estrutural – ou um mecanismo – tem-se deixado de ver aspectos importantes e fundamentais para a vida social e organizacional. Na análise teórico-empírica realizada no presente estudo, assume-se o desafio de tentar compreender as redes em movimento. Toma-se como referência uma pesquisa empírica em uma rede de pequenos varejos familiares do Rio Grande do Sul. Analisa-se o significado das transformações ocorridas a partir da adesão a esta rede – as razões de ingresso e permanência; as resistências explícitas e implícitas; enfim, as consequências da inserção de um empreendimento familiar na dinâmica da competição capitalista.
The dominant approach in the study of networks of organizations has emphasized structural elements, both in economic and sociological aspects. The relational aspects have been considered either tangentially or as obstacles to efficiency in the performance of arrangements. Internal conflicts have been treated as a noise or dysfunctions that must be fought through a structure of “governance”. That is, seeking to “see” the network as a structural form – or a mechanism – it has failed to see what is important and fundamental to the social and organizational life. Therefore, the theoretical and empirical analysis conducted in this study assumes the challenge of trying to understand the networks in motion. An empirical study on a network of small family retails in southern Brazil is taken as reference. The significance of changes
occurring as from the membership of this network is analyzed – the reasons for entry and stay, explicit and implicit resistance, and the consequences of a family business in the dynamics of capitalist competition.
