Reprodução induzida do papa-terra menticirrhus americanus (pisces:sciaenidae) utilizando hcg

Abstract

O papa-terra, Menticirrhus americanus está distribuído ao longo da costa oeste do Oceano Atlântico. Assim como outros Sciaenidae, o papa-terra vem sendo considerado como uma espécie com potencial para a piscicultura marinha e estuarina. Como parte do sucesso da criação é a reprodução, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a possibilidade de reproduzir M. americanus em cativeiro utilizando hCG. As fêmeas foram induzidas com uma dose de 300 UI hCG.kg-1. Foi obtido sucesso em 60% das fêmeas induzidas. O período de latência foi de 38,1 ± 3,4h, os ovos mediram 730 ± 0,06 μm de diâmetro, com taxas de segmentação e eclosão de 63,8 ± 14,5% e 43,3 ± 10,7%, respectivamente. A fertilidade foi estimada em 137.291 ± 136.949 ovos.kg-1. Os resultados demonstram que as fêmeas de papa-terra são sensíveis ao hCG e que é possível obter larvas viáveis a partir de fertilização artificial.

The Southern kingfish Menticirrhus americanus is distributed along of Atlantic West Coast. Such as others Sciaenidae the Southern kingfish has been considered potential to marine and estuarine fish culture. Part of successful in captivity is reproduction, and then the study aimed evaluates the M. americanus reproduction in captivity using hCG. The females were induced with 300 IU hCG.kg-1 BW. The spawning successful was obtained in 60% induced. The latency period was 38.1 ± 3.4h, the eggs diameter was 730 ± 0.06 μm, segmentation and hatching rate were 63.8 ± 14.5% e 43.3 ± 10.7%, respectively. The fertility was estimated in 137,291 ± 136,949 ovos.kg-1. The results showed the Southern kingfish is sensitive to hCG and it is possible to obtain viable larvae through artificial reproduction.
