Abstract:
Os registros teatrais atenienses, expressos em textos cômicos e trágicos,
são instrumentos importantes para analisarmos os acontecimentos e
sensibilidades do homem heleno clássico. Eles nos fornecem,
especialmente os cômicos aristofânicos, elementos muito úteis para o
estudo da participação feminina na Polis de Atenas. A obra escolhida neste
trabalho possibilita sopesarmos a atuação da esposa legítima do cidadão
conhecida como Melissa. No teatro de Aristófanes, elas foram expostas de
forma cômica, mas não ilegítima. Por meio do drama Assembléia das
mulheres, o teatrólogo evidencia os mecanismos de poder entre os sexos e
os níveis de interferência feminina na cidadania democrática do século V
a.C., uma cidadania de homens.
Athenian theatrical records, as expressed through comic and tragic texts, are
important tools for analyzing the events and sensibilities of the classic Hellenes.
Such texts, especially the comic Aristophanic ones, are a very useful source to
research women participation in the Polis of Athens. The work chosen for this
study enable us to reflect on the role of the legitimate wives of citizens, also
known as Melissa. In Aristophanic theater, they were exposed in a comic, but
not illegitimate manner. Through the play Assembly of Women, the playwright
reveals the mechanisms of power between men and women as well as the
levels of female interference with the democratic citizenship in the 5th century
BC, a citizenship of men.
