Abstract:
Ao longo das últimas décadas, as reflexões acerca das questões de gênero
apontam para uma percepção mais ampla dos objetos de estudo possíveis, bem
como para a complexidade que envolve as interações entre gênero e outros
domínios das relações sociais, tal como o da política. Nosso objetivo neste artigo
é justamente tratar de como concepções e relações de gênero são trabalhadas
a fim de embasar a construção de uma representação política no Portugal do
baixo medievo. Portanto, procuramos analisar como a caracterização feminina
da cidade de Lisboa pelo cronista Fernão Lopes (servidor da dinastia de Avis
na primeira metade do século XV) insere-se no discurso memorialístico de
legitimação desta nova casa real que havia se instaurado no reino ao final do
século XIV.
Over the past decades, the reflections regarding gender issues point to a broader
perception of the objects possible for study, as well as the complexity involved
in the interactions between gender and other areas of social relationship, such
as Politics. Our aim in this article is precisely showing how conceptions and
gender relations are developed in order to base the construction of a political
representation in the Late Medieval Portugal. Therefore, we analyze how
the feminine characterization of the city of Lisbon by the chronicler Fernão
Lopes (server of Avis Dynasty in the first half of 15th century) fits into the
memorialistic speech of legitimation of this new Royal House, who had risen
by the end of 14th century.
