Abstract:
O presente artigo aborda a apropriação simbólica da
Guerra do Paraguai na construção discursiva do ideário federalista,
em uma tentativa de associar os eventos do conflito sul-americano
à situação política do Brasil em geral, e do Rio Grande do Sul em
particular, de fins do século XIX, através da análise das crônicas de
Ângelo Dourado no jornal rio-grandino Echo do Sul, publicadas no ano
de 1899, sob o viés da História da Literatura.
This article discusses the symbolic appropriation of
the Guerra do Paraguai in the discursive construction of the federalist
ideals, trying to associate the events of the South American conflict to
the political situation of Brazil in general and Rio Grande do Sul, in
particular, of the late nineteenth century, through the analysis of the
records of Ângelo Dourado in the Echo do Sul newspaper, published
in 1899, under the History of Literature.
