Abstract:
O presente trabalho faz uma breve reconstituição histórica
de como o processo de criação e implementação de áreas protegidas,
com os seus objetivos e justificativas, surgiu e se desenvolveu ao longo
do tempo, no mundo e no Brasil. Mostra como os debates acerca da
proteção da natureza ganharam a arena internacional e influenciaram
a criação de áreas protegidas e de instituições ligadas à conservação
na natureza. Trata de como diferentes abordagens influenciaram a
gestão de áreas protegidas e discute como disposições e motivações
muito diversas relacionadas com a criação e gestão de áreas protegidas
focalizaram aspectos importantes para a promoção da conservação da
biodiversidade e para o uso sustentável dos recursos naturais.
This paper provides a brief historical reconstruction of
how the process of creation and implementation of protected areas,
with their goals and justifications, emerged and developed over time, worldwide and in Brazil. It shows how the debates about the nature of
protection gained the international arena and influenced the creation of
protected areas and institutions connected to conservation in the wild.
Deals with how different approaches influenced the management of
protected areas and discusses how provisions and different motivations
related to the creation and management of protected areas focused on
important aspects for the promotion of biodiversity conservation and
sustainable use of natural resources.
