Abstract:
O romance Memórias de Branca Dias (2009), de Miguel Real,
apresenta os elementos pelos quais Linda Hutcheon (1991) define o
conceito de metaficção historiográfica. Neste sentido, fundamentamos
a leitura crítica deste romance pelos estudos que indicam o romance
histórico contemporâneo como uma releitura crítica do passado. Miguel
Real traz para uma escrita reflexiva em relação à Inquisição portuguesa,
redimensionando a figura histórica de Branca Dias. Outrossim, também
a coloca em evidência muito mais que os personagens masculinos da
narrativa. Somando estes aspectos, e mais, ao considerarmos os estudos
de Maria de Fátima Marinho (1999) sobre a evolução do subgênero
romanesco em questão, bem como os estudos de Cristina Vieira (2008)
sobre a personagem romanesca, lemos a figura de Branca Dias, nesta
ficção, como uma representação da mulher judia que lutou pela vida e
pela liberdade, visto que, a partir metaficção historiográfica passou-se
a ter um novo enfoque para figuras antes marginalizadas ou apagadas
das narrativas históricas. Evidenciar estes aspectos, através da leitura
do romance de Miguel Real, com um olhar que também traz à tona
questões de gênero para a protagonista feminina é o nosso intento
neste artigo.
The novel Memórias de Branca Dias, de Miguel Real (2009),
presents the elements by which Linda Hutcheon (1991) defines the
concept of historiographical metafiction . TroughI this way, we base the
critical reading of this novel by studies that indicate the contemporary
historical novel as a critical rereading of the past. Miguel Real brings a
reflective writing in relation to the Portuguese Inquisition, resizing the
historical figure of Branca Dias. And also highlights much more than
the male characters of the narrative. Adding these features, and more,
when we consider the studies of Maria de Fátima Marinho (1999) on
the evolution of romantic subgenre in question, as well as studies of
Cristina Vieira (2008) on the novel character, we read the White Days
figure, in this novel, as a representation of the Jewish woman who
fought for life and liberty, as from historiographical metafiction it went
to have a new approach to figures previously marginalized or erased
the historical narratives. Highlight these issues by reading the novel
by Miguel Real, with a look that also brings up gender issues for the
female protagonist is our intent in this article.
