Mulheres e sindicato: a relação entre as trabalhadoras da indústria de construção naval e off-shore e o sindicato dos metalúrgicos em Rio Grande - RS

Abstract

Baseando-se em elementos teórico-conceituais, como as relações de trabalho e de gênero e territorialidade, esta pesquisa se contextualiza nas primeiras décadas do século XXI e nas mudanças econômicas ocorridas no município de Rio Grande (RS), no qual se destacaram a indústria de construção naval e off-shore decorrentes das políticas de âmbito nacional. Entre as configurações no perfil ocupacional dos trabalhadores desse ramo, nos últimos anos, notabilizou-se a inserção de mulheres em atividades historicamente atribuídas a homens. Tais modificações alcançaram o representante legal dos trabalhadores da categoria: o sindicato dos metalúrgicos. O estudo tem por objetivo analisar a relação das trabalhadoras com o espaço sindical em questão. Como técnica, empregamos entrevistas semiestruturadas individuais com as mulheres que trabalham e/ou trabalharam no segmento e com os dirigentes sindicais. Além disso, acompanhamos, em greves e paralisações, a atuação dos trabalhadores e a do sindicato. Na investigação, optamos pela Análise de Conteúdo e utilizamos o software NVIVO 9 como ponto de partida, facilitador da classificação em temas (ou 'nós') relatados nas entrevistas, quando se abordava trabalho, família, gênero, sindicato e qualificação. Reconsideramos os temas e, assim, intentamos compreender e explicar, nos limites da pesquisa, a relação das trabalhadoras com o sindicato que as representa. Considerando as relações citadas, elencamos itens esclarecedores para uma baixa participação das entrevistadas nas ações sindicalistas, apesar de suas reivindicações específicas: a) a sobrecarga das tarefas reprodutivas no âmbito familiar; b) os desafios enfrentados como trabalhadora na indústria de construção naval e offshore e c) a identificação do sindicato dos metalúrgicos como uma territorialidade masculina.

Based on theoretical-conceptual elements, such as work, gender and territoriality relations, this study is contextualized in the first decades of the 21st century and in economic changes that have happened in Rio Grande - a city located in Rio Grande do Sul state, in the south of Brazil - where companies in naval and offshore construction have got incentive as a result of national policies. The occupational profile of workers in this field has shown that women have taken jobs that were historically attributed to men in the past. Such changes have reached the workers legal representative in this category, i. e., the metallurgists union. This study aims at analyze the relation between the female workers and the union. Individual semi-structured interviews were made with women who have worked or worked in this sector and with union leaders. Besides, the workers and the union acts were followed during their strikes. This investigation was carried out in the light of Content Analysis and the software NVIVO 9 as a starting point which enabled classification into the themes (or knots) which were addressed by the interviewees, such as work, family, gender, union and qualification. The themes were used to comprehend and explain the relations between the female workers and the union which represents them. Taking into account these relations, the following items were listed to explain why the interviewees do not actually participate in the unions acts, despite having their specific demands: a) the burden of reproductive function in their family lives; b) the challenges they face as workers in the naval and offshore construction companies; and c) the identification of the metallurgists union with male territoriality.
