Abstract:
A proposta do presente estudo é apresentar algumas controvérsias sobre a diversidade da população indígena durante o período missioneiro e as discussões originadas pós-expulsão sobre o fenômeno das fugas ou deserção pela dificuldade de manter a população indígena dentro dos povoados.
The article presents some controversies over the diversity of the indigenous population during the period of the Jesuit missions and the discussions that took place after the Jesuits’ expulsion on the phenomenon of flight or desertion due to the difficulty of
keeping the indigenous population within the villages.
