Abstract:
Esta dissertação analisa a figura política de Getúlio Vargas na gênese da República Nova, mais precisamente inicia na Revolução de 1930 e se estende até a derrota da Revolução Constitucionalista de 1932. Ademais, é apreciado de que modo Getúlio Vargas foi representado como um dos protagonistas nas páginas da revista Careta. Ao estudar tal período, este trabalho busca compreender o posicionamento e as críticas desta revista, com ênfase à relevância da imprensa como fonte histórica e o uso da caricatura como meio para ensinar História. Em meio aos acontecimentos do período, a revista carioca Careta retratou através de suas caricaturas, diversas cenas da vida política e social com boa dose de irreverência, crítica e criatividade, permitindo assim, uma maior compreensão em relação à sociedade da época.
This thesis analyzes the political image of Getúlio Vargas in the beginning of the República Nova. More precisely, it covers the period from the Revolution of 1930 to the Constitutionalist Revolution defeat in 1932. Moreover, this thesis examines how Getúlio Vargas was represented as a protagonist in the magazine Careta. By studying the indicated period, this work aims to understand the positioning and criticism of the Careta magazine. Special attention is given to the relevance of the press as historical source and the use of caricatures as a resource to History teaching. At its time, the Careta magazine portrayed through its caricatures various scenes of the political and social life with irreverence, criticism and creativity, allowing a better understanding about the society of the time.
