Abstract:
Há mais de um século e meio Madame Bovary (1857), de Gustave Flaubert, apareceu ao público pela primeira vez. Desde então vem encantando leitores e suscitando reflexões ao redor do mundo. André Dabezies (1997) aponta que entre os critérios determinantes para a classificação de mito literário, implica avaliar o número de vezes que a obra ou o tema mítico foram retomados, a quantidade de tiragens editoriais do livro que dá origem ao mito, as reações de diferentes leitores, as derivações, as alusões passadas ou atuais ou a sua presença na linguagem cotidiana. O estudo da personagem Emma Bovary será estruturado e desenvolvido, nesta pesquisa, a partir de pressupostos e conceitos que caracterizam o mito literário e sua reatualização em personagens da escritora portuguesa Teolinda Gersão. Antes de aludir ao mito literário, mencionamos concepções relativas ao mito propriamente dito. Dessa forma, evidenciamos as diferenças entre os dois termos e apontamos a extensão do domínio que esta analogia apresenta. A perspectiva de que se vale esta pesquisa engloba ponderações correspondentes às teorias de autores como Mircea Eliade, Pierre Brunel, Joseph Campbell, Gilbert Durand, entre outros. Para sistematizar nosso estudo, portanto, ao proceder à análise dos romances de Teolinda Gersão, agrupamos as características que compõem o mito bovariano em feixes (mitemas), que serão organizados em torno de uma ideia central e subdivididos em: I. Imagem distorcida de si mesma, II. Frustração, III. Busca por uma realidade imaginária e IV. Aniquilamento. Assim, a evidência de reatualização do mito bovariano em narrativas de Gersão, segundo a constituição da trajetória das personagens que selecionamos, será investigada em Lavínia (O silêncio, 1981), Virita (A casa da cabeça de cavalo, 1995), Amélia (A árvore das palavras, 1996) e Olímpia (Passagens, 2014), em que verificamos como se deu a reatualização do mito, se ela acontece integralmente, ou em partes.
More than a century and a half ago Madame Bovary (1857), by Gustave Flaubert, appeared to the public for the first time. Since then, it has been enchanting readers and stimulating reflections around the world. André Dabezies (1997) points out that among the determining criteria for a classification of literary myth, it implicates evaluating the number of times that the work or the mythical theme was resumed, the number of editorial prints of the book whose myth emerges, reactions from different readers, derivations, past or current allusions or their presence in everyday language. The study of the character Emma Bovary will be structured and developed, in this research, based on assumptions and concepts that characterize the literary myth and its re-actualization in characters by the Portuguese writer Teolinda Gersão. Before alluding to the literary myth, we mentioned conceptions related to the myth itself. In this way, we evince the differences between the two terms and point out the extension of the domain that this analogy presents. The perspective used by this research includes considerations corresponding to the theories of authors such as Mircea Eliade, Pierre Brunel, Joseph Campbell, Gilbert Durand, among others. To systematize our study, therefore, when analyzing the novels of Teolinda Gersão, we grouped the characteristics that constitute the Bovarian myth into bundles (mythemes), which will be organized around a central idea and subdivided into: I. Distorted image of yourself, II. Frustration, III. Search for an imaginary reality and IV. Annihilation. Thus, the evidence of the re-actualization of the Bovarian myth in narratives of Gersão, according to the constitution of the trajectory of the characters we selected, will be investigated in Lavínia (O Silêncio, 1981), Virita (A casa da Cabeça de Cavalo, 1995), Amélia (A árvore das Palavras, 1996) and Olímpia (Passagens, 2014), in which we verified how the myth was re-actualized, whether it happens in its entirety, or in parts.
