Abstract:
Neste trabalho realizo um estudo introdutório a respeito da obra de Carmen Moreno, centrando posteriormente minha análise no Künstlerroman, romance de artista, Diário de
luas (1995). Abordo as principais características deste gênero literário (genre), na perspectiva de gênero (gender) e a composição híbrida do romance Diário de luas –construído pela associação de um poema com a prosa narrativa. A análise da diegese é
embasada principalmente no texto “A crítica feminista no território selvagem” (1994), de
Elaine Showalter, para caracterizar o universo feminino. A metodologia aplicada à análise, com o fim de mostrar as especificidades desse espaço gendrado, parte da composição de “matrizes de significação”. Estas são formuladas por meio de grupos de vocábulos que remetem para um significado outro/outros, além do que vem explicitado no texto (sentido literal). Elejo três matrizes de significação. A primeira é composta pelos vocábulos bonecos, encenação, aplauso, espelho, loucura e morte, e a segunda, por diário, escritura, noite, luz, cela e silêncio. A terceira matriz inclui arte, erotismo e corpo, pervasivos em toda a diegese. Os três grupos de matrizes de significação, que estão a serviço do universo
da mulher-artista, constituem simbolicamente o espaço e o tempo percorrido pela protagonista nas suas duas fases de vida: a infância/juventude e o período de maturidade,
próximo ao climatério. As matrizes demonstram, respectivamente, o desejo pela fama da atriz de teatro (tanto do eu-lírico, quanto da narradora em primeira pessoa); a prisão da protagonista, que, encarcerada, transforma-se em escritora e compõe seu Diário de luas. Elas também desvelam o corpo e o erotismo na escritura de Duran, o que confirma a existência de um universo diegético feminino e regido pelo envolvimento da protagonista com a arte. Esse romance atesta a identidade da mulher-artista na contemporaneidade, reafirma e acrescenta paradigmas ao romance de artista de autoria feminina na série literária brasileira. Carmen Moreno apresenta temas relevantes aos estudos de gênero, do ponto de vista da Crítica Literária Feminista, e esta primeira proposta de leitura do romance Diário de luas deixa em aberto a possibilidade para novas descobertas na obra de Moreno.
In this work I introduce Carmen Moreno´s fictional work and afterwards I focus on the
analysis of Diário de luas (1995), her Künstlerroman (novel of woman artist). I approach the main characteristics of this literary genre from the perspective of gender and the hybrid composition of the novel Diário de luas, built on the association between a poem and the narrative prose. The analysis of the diegesis is based especially on Elaine Showalter´s “A crítica feminista no território selvagem” (1994), in order to characterize the female universe. The methodology applied to the analyses, with the aim of showing the specifications of this gendered space, starts from the composition of “patterns of meaning”. They are structured through groups of words that point at other meanings besides the ones literally expressed in the text. I choose three distinct “patterns of meaning”. The first is built with the words dolls, staging, applause, mirror, madness, and death, and the second
encloses the words diary, writing, night, light, cell, and silence. The third pattern includes art, eroticism, and body and is found throughout the whole narrative. The three groups of patterns that deal with the woman artist universe symbolically establish the space and the time covered by the protagonist in her two phases of life: childhood/youth and her growing mature, a period near climacteric. The patterns respectively demonstrate the theater
actress’s wish of fame (both of the lyric I and the first person narrator); the protagonist’s arrest, who in spite of being incarcerated becomes a writer and produces her Diário de luas. The patterns also unveil body and eroticism in Duran’s writing, thus confirming the existence of a feminine diegetic universe ruled by the involvement of the protagonist with art. This novel attests the contemporary woman artist’s identity, emphasizes and adds paradigms to the novel of the woman artist written by women in the Brazilian literary series. Carmen Moreno deals with relevant themes to the study of gender from the feminine literary criticism viewpoint. This first reading approach to the novel Diário de luas leaves open the possibility of new findings in Moreno´s work.
