Abstract:
O mundo globalizado em que estamos inseridos considera a língua inglesa como
linguagem global de comunicação, tanto científica quanto tecnológica. Esta
monografia tem como objetivo geral investigar a relevância do domínio em língua
inglesa para os bibliotecários das Universidades Federais do Rio Grande do sul,
tendo como objetivos específicos analisar se há benefícios que os profissionais
bibliotecários possam ter com o conhecimento da língua inglesa, verificar se há a
exigência do mercado de trabalho nos editais de concursos públicos e sites que
divulgam vagas de emprego na área e investigar se os profissionais que possuem
proficiência em língua inglesa fazem uso deste conhecimento no seu dia a dia. A
metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa quali-quantitativa, através de um questionário,
como também pesquisa de caráter documental, em que foi retirado informações de
websites sobre vagas de emprego e em editais de concursos públicos. Foi concluído
que o conhecimento da língua inglesa não costuma ser exigido na maioria das vagas
de emprego e nem nas avaliações dos concursos públicos, porém é um diferencial
que irá destacar o candidato que apresentar. Com relação ao questionário, foi
constatado que há diversos benefícios para os profissionais que possuem qualquer
tipo de conhecimento em língua inglesa, aplicado no seu cotidiano e auxilia em
diversas tarefas realizadas pelo profissional bibliotecário.
The globalized world in which we live considers the English language as a global
language of communication, both scientific and technological. This research has as
general objective to investigate the research studies of the command of the English
language of the Universities Federals of South, aiming to study the benefits that
professionals of literature can have with the knowledge of the English language, to
verify if there is a demand of the market of work on public tender notices and
websites that advertise job vacancies in the área and investigate professional who
are proficient in the English Language make use of this knowledge in their daily lives.
The methodology used was quali-quantitative research, through a quantitative
document, as well as a research job that was taken from information from websites
about public tender vacancies and in public tender notices. It was concluded that
knowledge of the English language is not usually required in most job vacancies or in
tender estimates, but it is as a differential that will highlight the candidate who will
present himself. Regarding the English language, it was found that there are several
benefits that have any type of knowledge in their daily lives and help in various tasks
performed by the professional librarian.
