Abstract:
A presente dissertação consiste em uma análise do livro A paixão medida, de Carlos
Drummond de Andrade. O corpus escolhido foi originalmente lançado em 1980, quando
Drummond já era considerado um dos grandes poetas brasileiros. Os objetivos do presente
trabalho são relativos à investigação dos temas, bem como das construções formais, realçados na leitura dos poemas; também há a pretensão de buscar uma relação total entre os poemas, de forma que a mensagem total do corpus seja explicitada a partir da análise. Para tanto, buscou-se analisar os poemas na seqüência em que são apresentados, o que foi conseguido à exceção de um caso. A partir da leitura de cada poemas e das interconexões estabelecidas entre eles, foi possível descortinar o horizonte da morte como tema norteador do corpus, onde os outros temas, tais como a investigação da natureza e do mundo, a metapoesia, o amor, o tempo, o
passado, a família, giram ao redor. A premência da morte pressentida coloca, ao centro do livro, uma seqüência de dez poemas sobre o tema. E é da união deste tema com a busca da vida, de sua perpetuação, que a figura de Camões aparece homenageada nos últimos dois poemas, sendo o lusitano uma síntese da vida que sobreviveu à própria morte dentro da poesia. Buscou-se, a todo momento, a preponderância da análise dos poemas, deixando para estes a tarefa de indicar as respostas possíveis. A teoria, assim, aparece menos como um elemento fortemente direcionador da leitura permitida pelos poemas, e mais como um instrumento de auxílio na sua leitura e na amarração entre as partes.
This thesis consists of an analysis of the book A paixão medida, by Carlos Drummond de
Andrade. This book was originally released in 1980, when Drummond was already considered one of Brazil’s greatest poets. The aims of this work are related to the investigation of the themes, as well as of the form constructions underlined in the reading of
the poems; there is also the intention of seeking a holistic relation among the poems, so that the full message of the corpus be conveyed from the analysis. In order to do so, an analysis of all the thirty-nine poems presented was made following the sequence they are presented, except for one case. From the reading of each poem, and then from their connection, it was possible to discover the horizon of death as the corpus main theme, where other themes, such as the investigation of nature and the world, meta-poetry, love, time, the past, family, whirl around. The presence of death is felt, and places, in the middle of the sequence, a sequence of ten poems about this specific theme. And when it meets the searching for life, and its
continuation, a homage to Luis Vaz de Camões appears, in the two last poems, as a synthesis of life surviving death itself in the world of poetry. It is a concern, at all times, to analyze the poems and leave for this analysis the task of indicating possible answers. Thus, theory appears less as a strong driving element for the reading, and more as a helping instrument in their
reading, and also to tie the parts as a whole.
