As vertentes temáticas na contística de Sergio Faraco

Abstract

Sergio Faraco destacou-se na literatura brasileira pelo panorama social que apresenta em seus contos, retratando o indivíduo sul-rio-grandense tanto do campo quanto da cidade. Assim, traz à luz homens em conflito com a identidade cultural gaúcha bem como a desumanização do indivíduo no espaço urbano. Porém, a literatura do escritor vai além do mero regionalismo e esquadrinhamento dos problemas sociais. Faraco é reconhecido, também, pelo caráter universal de seus contos, presente mesmo naqueles que focalizam mais a fundo o espaço rural do Rio Grande do Sul. O presente trabalho de dissertação tem por objetivo a análise da obra Contos completos, de Sérgio Faraco, publicada em 1995 e reeditada 2004, considerando-a no âmbito da série literária sul-rio-grandense e, nessa perspectiva, identificando o lugar ocupado por sua contística no plano da referida série. Para tanto, a investigação vem apoiada na fortuna crítica existente a respeito da obra do contista sul-rio-grandense, bem como na Teoria da Literatura, especialmente no que diz respeito ao gênero conto. Nesse sentido, o trabalho realizado por Gilda Neves da Silva Bittencourt em seu livro O conto sul-rio-grandense: tradição e modernidade (1999), é utilizado como guia principal para a análise da obra de Faraco, especialmente em suas vertentes temáticas.

Sergio Faraco stands out in Brazilian Literature by the social landscape presented in his short stories, portraying the individual from the countryside and the cities of Rio Grande do Sul, bringing out individuals in conflict with the cultural identity of Rio Grande do Sul and the dehumanization of the individual in the urban space. However, the literature of the writer goes beyond mere regionalism and scrutinizing the social problems. Faraco is recognized by the universal character of his stories, present in the ones that focus more deeply on the rural areas of Rio Grande do Sul. This dissertation aims at analyzing the work Contos completos, by Sergio Faraco, published in 1995 and reissued in 2004, considering it within the literary series of Rio Grande do Sul, and from that perspective, to identify the place of the writer in this literary series. Therefore, the research will be supported by the existing criticism about the work of the writer from Rio Grande do Sul and by the Theory of Literature, especially regarding the Gender short story. In this sense, the work by Gilda Neves da Silva BITTENCOURT, in her book O conto sul-rio-grandense: tradição e modernidade (1999), is the main guideline for the analysis of the work of Faraco, especially in its themes.
