Mito e símbolo em autran dourado: uma leitura de Os Sinos da Agonia pela perspectiva do imaginário

Abstract

O presente estudo propõe uma análise do imaginário de Os sinos da agonia, originalmente publicado em 1974, do escritor mineiro Autran Dourado (1926-2012). Constatando que a fortuna crítica identifica a relação do romance com o mito de Hipólito e Fedra através de relações de analogias, parte-se da premissa de que uma análise do mítico na literatura deve ser realizada primeiramente através da compreensão de como as imagens simbólicas estão expressas dentro da obra de arte. Para tanto, utilizou-se do referencial teórico do imaginário encontrado na psicologia das profundezas de Carl Gustav Jung, na filosofia da imaginação material de Gaston Bachelard e na antropologia do imaginário de Gilbert Durand. De tais posturas teóricas derivam um método de crítica do imaginário na literatura, conhecido como mitocrítica, que propõe analisar sincronicamente uma narrativa para compreender os conteúdos repetitivos que se relacionam no fio diacrônico do discurso. Com tal abordagem, foi possível identificar a organização das principais imagens do romance, consteladas em mitemas, até chegar ao “segundo texto”, a dinâmica do mito literário presente na narrativa. Ao compreender o núcleo mítico da obra, seu sermo mythicus, as relações com a história de Hipólito e Fedra foram complexificadas, através da percepção de que o livro realiza um diálogo vivo com o mito arcaico, dando significado existencial a uma narrativa sobre o tabu do incesto que toca questões simbólicas da relação entre o homem, o tempo e a morte.

This study proposes an analysis of Os sinos da agonia imagery, a novel originally published in 1974 and written by Autran Dourado (1926- 2012). Noticing that the critics identify a relationship between the novel and the myth of Hippolytus and Phaedra through relations of analogy, we start from the premise that an analysis of the mythic literature should be performed first by the understanding of how symbolic images are expressed within the work of art. For this, we used the theoretical references of imagery found in the depth psychology of Carl Gustav Jung, the philosophy of Gaston Bachelard’s material imagination and Gilbert Durand’s anthropology of imagery. Such theoretical position derive a method of critical imagination on literature known as mythocritcs which aims to analyze a narrative synchronously in order to understand the repetitive content that relate the diachronic thread of the discourse. With this approach, it was possible to identify the organization of the main images in this novel gathered in mythemes until it reaches the “second text”, the dynamics of literary myth in this narrative. By understanding the mythic core of this work, its sermo mythicus, the relations with the story of Hippolytus and Phaedra were made more complex through the perception that the book makes a lively dialogue with the archaic myth, giving existential meaning to a narrative about the taboo of incest which deals with symbolic issues of the relationship among man, time and death.
