Abstract:
No Brasil até 1822, a organização judiciária esteve atrelada ao modelo
jurídico português. Essa realidade começaria a mudar a partir da
transferência da Família Real para o Rio de Janeiro. Apresentar um
panorama desse processo histórico centrado na justiça de segunda
instância é um dos objetivos deste texto. Em 1874 se daria a única
ampliação significativa dessas Cortes. Naquele ano, foram instalados sete
novos Tribunais, entre os quais estava o Tribunal da Relação de Porto
Alegre. Apresentar o corpo de magistrados daquela Casa é o objeto
central deste artigo. Inicialmente estão dados gerais sobre todos os
desembargadores que jurisdicionaram na Relação e algumas trajetórias de
destaque.
The judicial system in Brazil was tied to the Portuguese legal model until
1822. This reality began to change after the transfer of the Portuguese
Royal Family to Rio de Janeiro. One of the aims of this paper is to give an
overview of this historical process, focusing on the Courts of Justice. The
only significant amplification of the in Brazil Courts took place in 1874. In
this year, seven Courts were settled, among which was the Court of Justice
of Porto Alegre. In view of this, the main objective of this paper is to
introduce the bench of magistrates of such a Court and some outstanding
individual trajectories.
