Entre ilusões e revelações: a poética do olhar em caio fernando abreu

Abstract

Caio Fernando Abreu, através de seus textos literários, mostra-se um escritor bastante crítico em relação à sociedade, ao comportamento do homem e sua condição diante de um mundo fragmentado e mecanizado. O escritor sul-rio-grandense utiliza-se de um universo simbólico para recriar a sociedade em sua produção literária, por isso, como principal contribuição teórica para este trabalho, temos os estudos sobre imaginário realizados pelo pesquisador francês Gilbert Durand. Desse modo, um dos objetivos desta pesquisa é verificar como se estabelece a relação entre obra, sociedade e imaginário a partir da análise da imagem do olhar presente nos contos do escritor. O olhar define-se como uma ação que transcende o sentido da visão, afetando o indivíduo, não se tratando uma atividade passiva, mas de atenção e de reflexão. Nesse sentido, o olhar é fonte de estudo em várias áreas do conhecimento e também está presente no imaginário. Diversas definições sobre o olhar convergem para a análise da obra de Caio Fernando Abreu, colaborando para desvelar o modo como seus personagens revelam-se e são revelados através da experiência perceptiva, como estes são afetados pela imagem do olhar do outro ou pelo olhar a si próprio. Além disso, o ―olhar revelador‖ presente nos contos que compõem o corpus deste trabalho aponta questões sobre o homem como o egoísmo, a solidão, a efemeridade das relações e o consumismo.

Caio Fernando Abreu, through his literary texts, is a very critic writer in relation to the society, to man‘s behavior and to his condition facing the fragmented and mechanized world. The southern writer used a symbolic universe to recreate the society in his literary production, so, as the main theoretical contribution to this work, we have the studies about Imaginary accomplished by the French researcher Gilbert Durand. In this way, one of the goals of this research is to verify how it is stablished the relation among work, society and imaginary from the analysis of the image of the look present in the writer‘s short stories.The look is defined as an action that transcends the sense of vision, affecting the individual, not being a passive activity, but of attention and of reflection. In this way, the look is a source of study in many areas of knowledge and it is also present in the imaginary. Several definitions about the look converge to the analysis of the work of Caio Fernando Abreu, helping to unveil the way how his characters reveal themselves and are revealed through the perspective experience, how they are affected by the look image of the other or by the look to the self. In addition, the ―revealer look‖ presents in the short stories of the corpus of this work points to questions about man, like the selfishness, the loneliness, the ephemerality in the relations and the consumerism.
