Romance histórico-intimista: espaços na narrativa sul-riograndense

Abstract

A presente tese analisa os romances seguintes: Um quarto de Légua em Quadro, A prole do corvo e Bacia das almas, de Luiz Antonio de Assis Brasil; Netto perde sua Alma e Perseguição e cerco a Juvência Gutierres, de Tabajara Ruas e A ferro e fogo I e II, de Josué Guimarães a fim de constatar quais características os identificam como romances histórico-intimistas. Objetiva-se demostrar como os autores destacam-se dentro da literatura sul-rio-grandense. Considerando as pesquisas no âmbito da História da Literatura, realiza-se um levantamento de fortuna crítica dos autores e das obras que compõem o corpus, procurando situá-los no panorama literário nacional, além de se procurar uma reconfiguração dos papeis já atribuídos pela historiografia e crítica tradicional. Para auxiliar na análise, desenvolvem-se duas linhas teóricas, a primeira busca discorrer sobre o romance histórico e suas mudanças, com base em autores como Gyorgy Lukács, Perry Anderson, Fredric Jameson, Seymour Menton, Hayden White e Paul Ricoeur. A segunda linha apresenta discussões acerca do intimismo na literatura a partir de teorias do imaginário, com apoio de Gaston Bachelard, e também de teóricos que tratam sobre os espaços e tempo nos romances, como Maurice Blanchot, Luis Brandão, Benedito Nunes, entre outros. O elemento espacial foi tomando como um dos focos centrais para a compreensão das obras, relacionando-se como as personagens buscam, nos diferentes espaços, mostrar-se ao leitor, revelar-se e ir além de um tempo histórico fixado e datado pelos registros tradicionais. O conjunto de romances selecionados remete à possibilidade de uma temática histórico-intimista, sendo assim, essa linha estaria condicionada a autores que, em suas obras, são capazes de trazer elementos que remetam à ambientação sul-rio-grandense (seja pelos episódios ocorridos na história, seja pelas questões políticas) e, em concomitância, estabelecem discussões relativas ao indivíduo, as quais possibilitem transcender o espaço geográfico e o tempo histórico em que estão inseridos.

The present thesis analyses the writers Luiz Antonio de Assis Brasil (Um quarto de légua em Quadro, A prole do corvo and Bacia das almas), Tabajara Ruas (Netto perde sua Alma e Perseguição e cerco a Juvência Gutierres) and Josué Guimarães (A ferro e fogo I and II) in order to note what characteristics identify them as historic-intimate novels. We intend to demonstrate how the authors highlight in the literature. Considering the researches in the History of Literature, we make a survey of the critic fortune of the authors and of the works that make up the corpus, aiming to put them in the national literary panorama, besides to look for a reconfiguration of the roles still attributed by the historiography and traditional critics. In order to help in the analysis, we developed two theoretic lines. The first aims to speak about the historic novel and its changes, based in authors like Gyorgy Lukács, Perry Anderson, Fredric Jameson, Seymour Menton, Hayden White and Paul Ricoeur. The second line presents discussions about the intimism in the literature since the theories of imaginary, based on of Gaston Bachelard, and also from theoretician that deal about the spaces and time in the novels, as Maurice Blanchot, Luis Brandão, Benedito Nunes, among others. The spatial element was taken as one of the central focus to the comprehension of the works relating how the characters look for, in the different spaces, to show to the reader, reveal and go beyond the historic time fixed and dated by the traditional registers. The group of selected novels refers to the possibility of a historic-intimate thematic, then this line should be conditioned to authors that, in their books , are able to bring elements that send to sul-riograndense setting (even by episodes happened in the story, or by political issues) and, in concomitance, they stablish the geographic space and the historic time in which they are included.
