Abstract

Esta pesquisa analisa a atuação dos profissionais em biblioteconomia em relação ao tratamento de obras especiais nas Unidades informacionais de Rio Grande. Conceitua coleções especiais. Descreve as principais etapas no processamento de obras especiais. Cita características especiais dos livros raros e a diferença entre obras raras, preciosas e únicas. Conceitua os conhecimentos necessários ao profissional que lida (ou lidará) com obras especiais, segundo opinião de cada Instituição questionada. Identifica e considera a formação dos profissionais participantes da pesquisa que atuam nos acervos das instituições tratadas na pesquisa em relação aos procedimentos desenvolvidos nas coleções especiais. Investiga a experiência dos gestores dos acervos especiais com profissionais de biblioteconomia da Furg e sua opinião a respeito da formação acadêmica destes. Analisa as etapas do tratamento de obras especiais nas referidas unidades informacionais. Indica os conhecimentos necessários ao profissional que atuará na área de biblioteconomia de livros raros. Sugere a implantação de conhecimentos específicos da área de livros raros no curso de Biblioteconomia da Furg visando despertar interesse por tal campo de trabalho.This research analyzes the performance of professional librarianship in relation to the treatment works in special units informational Rio Grande.
