The port environment in coastal regions is characterized by having a corrosive effect on the ferrous alloys to which it is submitted. Historically millions are spent on maintenance and recovery and maintenance of extructures. Researches carried out using different deposited films try to minimize the deleterious effects of climatic interspecies on the substrates of these materials. In this work the effects of the preliminary conditions of the substrate were studied, correlating them with the application of different types of finishing, background and finishing paints. The paintings are characterized as barriers between the substrate and the environment to which the materials are exposed. In this context issues of thickness and adhesion of films represent a relevant factor in the best performance of this type of protection. A relevant factor for this study is related to the fact that the material used was a hypoeutethoidal steel extremely favorable to corrosion mechanisms. The different types of corrosive processes were carefully analyzed, observing the different deposition techniques to be applied. The results indicated that the preliminary preparation of the substrate through the blasting technique contributed to the homogeneous removal of the corrosive products and greater adhesion of the films. It was concluded that the application of blasting, base, final painting represents the fundamental triad for the best results of resistance to corrosion in extructures in marine environments.
