Abstract:
Quando o Brasil enfrentou o Paraguai na Guerra da
Tríplice Aliança, a imprensa exerceu um papel fundamental na
defesa da causa nacional. Ao longo do território brasileiro os jornais
divulgavam os episódios bélicos e mantinham um discurso patriótico e
de ataque ao inimigo. No Rio Grande do Sul, tal estratégia discursiva
foi desempenhada pelo seu primeiro jornal caricato, A Sentinella do Sul,
objeto de estudo deste trabalho.
When Brazil faced Paraguay in the War of the Triple
Alliance, the press played a key role in defending the national cause.
Throughout the Brazilian territory newspapers divulged the war
episodes and kept a patriotic and attack the enemy speech. In Rio
Grande do Sul, this discursive strategy was performed by his first
caricature newspaper, A Sentinella do Sul, the object of study of this
work.
