Abstract:
Devido a sua posição preponderante na cultura sul-rio-grandense na primeira
metade do século XIX, a instituição familiar fornece meios de compreendermos
as relações sociais, econômicas e políticas da elite farroupilha. Com a ajuda
de inventários, correspondências e biografias, procurei entender a constituição
e a ação dos maridos na formação do núcleo paternal. Neste contexto
condicionado pelo patriarcalismo, pretendo expor como os homens da elite
farroupilha deviam corresponder a muitos papéis que lhes eram impostos, a
fim de manterem sua honra e de sua família.
Due to its leading position in the culture of Rio Grande do Sul in the first
half of the nineteenth century, the family as an institution provides means of
understanding the social, economic and political farroupilha elite. Using the
apport of inventories, correspondence and biographies, I tried to understand
the formation and action of the husbands in the formation of the patriarchal
core. In this context conditioning by patriarchy, to expose how the farroupilha
elite should match the many roles that they were imposed in order to maintain
its personal and familiar honor.
