Abstract:
O presente texto aborda um levantamento sobre uma problemática ambiental da
cidade do Rio Grande-RS, que é o Lixão Municipal. Analisamos os aspectos legais
relacionados com a questão dos resíduos sólidos e das legislações nacionais,
estaduais e municipais e identificamos os impactos ambientais que acontecem
quando tais resíduos são tratados de maneira indevida. Resgatamos a história e as
características do lixão municipal e comentamos sobre a proposta de Aterro
Sanitário, o qual se encontrava em fase de construção na cidade, no momento deste
levantamento. Discutimos sobre os aspectos sócio-ambientais que permeiam a
problemática do lixo, do lixão municipal e do aterro sanitário na cidade, refletindo
a importância da Educação Ambiental diante da referida questão. Abordamos
também a(as) proposta(s) municipais de EA relacionadas ao lixo.
This paper reports the analysis of an environmental issue in Rio Grande, RS, i. e.,
the city landfill. We analyzed the legal aspects regarding the issue of solid residues, national, state and city legislations. Besides, we identified the
environmental impacts that occur when this waste is not properly treated. We
reviewed the history and the characteristics of the city landfill and analyzed the
proposal for a new landfill which was under construction at the time of this study.
We discussed the socio-environmental aspects underlying the problem of the
garbage, the existing landfill and the new landfill, thus, reflecting on the
importance of Environmental Education to face this issue. We also analyzed the
city proposal(s) concerning garbage and Environmental Education.
