Educação Ambiental e o envelhecimento humano no contexto do ensino formal

Abstract

A presente pesquisa, Educação Ambiental e o envelhecimento humano no contexto do ensino formal, propôs um estudo acerca das questões educacionais, gerontológicas e ambientais em três turmas do ensino fundamental nos anos iniciais, em três escolas de diferentes redes de ensino: estadual, municipal e privada, todas localizadas no município do Rio Grande - RS. Participaram deste estudo, na sua totalidade, quarenta e oito discentes, três docentes e três coordenadoras pedagógicas. Com enfoque na educação ambiental, convida à reflexão sobre os problemas socioambientais em decorrência da progressiva longevidade humana, buscando melhor qualidade de vida para a população idosa. O objetivo principal desta pesquisa é saber se é possível investir na educação de crianças através de conteúdos voltados ao processo de envelhecimento e assim, auxiliar os indivíduos e sociedade a diminuir os preconceitos acerca dos idosos e consequentemente, envelhecer melhor. Esta pesquisa social de base qualitativa foi orientada de acordo com o método pesquisa-ação, bem como do referencial teórico da Abordagem Bioecológica do Desenvolvimento Humano (TBDH) de Urie Bronfenbrenner (2002). As instituições de ensino e participantes foram escolhidas por conveniência para atender aos objetivos da pesquisa. Efetuou-se uma consistente revisão bibliográfica na busca de maiores conhecimentos sobre o tema, e utilizou-se como instrumentos para coleta de dados, entrevistas semiestruturadas com o corpo docente e pedagógico das escolas, atividades pedagógicas com as crianças, diário de campo, observação dos participantes e outras fontes de informação que levantaram dados sobre as instituições e entrevistados. Os resultados revelam que a boa recepção do tema pelos educandos e educadores e, por ser um assunto que afeta a todos, pode-se e deve-se incluir o debate sobre o mesmo em sala de aula, auxiliando na superação das dificuldades de quem é idoso e de quem ainda o será. Promovendo, através de ações educacionais, reflexões sobre a importância de desenvolver um projeto ao longo da vida para um melhor envelhecer. O tema escolhido para esta pesquisa é considerado relevante cientificamente, devido ao aumento da expectativa de vida da população idosa e consequentemente, seus impactos ambientais. As instituições de ensino são pilares importantes que auxiliam na sustentação da sociedade e devem intervir para aprofundar perspectivas em prol do desenvolvimento humano.

The present research, Environmental Education and human aging in the formal education context, proposed a study on the educational, gerontological and environmental in three classes of elementary school in the early years in three schools in different school systems: state, local and private, all located in Rio Grande - RS. The study, in its entirety, forty-eight students, three teachers and three coordinators pedagogic. With a focus on environmental education, it invites to a reflection about the socio-environmental problems due to the progressive human longevity, seeking a better life quality for the elderly. The main goal of this research is to know whether it is possible to invest on children’s education through contents aimed at the aging process and thus, to help the individuals and the society to reduce the prejudice on the elderly and, consequently, have a better aging. This qualitative-based social research was oriented according to the action-research method and to the theoretical background of the Bioecological approach of the human development (TBDH) of Urie Bronfenbrenner (2002). The Educational institutions and the participants were chosen for convenience to meet the goals of this research. A consistent literature review was done in search of more knowledge on the issue and semi-structured interviews with the teaching and pedagogical staff of the schools, pedagogical activities with the children, field diary, observation of participants and other sources of information were used as tools for data collection on the institutions and interviewees. The results show that the theme was well accepted both by the students and the teachers and, due to the fact that it is an issue that affects everyone, a debate on it may and should be included in the classroom, thus, helping the elderly the those who will be it to overcome difficulties. Reflections on the importance of developing a project throughout life to have a better aging were promoted through educational actions. The chosen theme for this research is seen as scientifically relevant due to the life expectancy increase in the elderly population and, consequently, its environmental impacts. The Educational Institutions are important pillars that help to support society and they must intervene to deepen perspectives for the human development.
