A ciência mostrada no cinema: uma análise do filme Hulk (2003)

Abstract

A mídia cinematográfica é um importante meio para se transmitir concepções sobre determinado tema ou assunto. Uma das temáticas mais abordadas pelo cinema são a ciência e a figura do cientista. Pensando nisso o trabalho tem como objetivo analisar qual a visão de ciência que é mostrada no cinema tendo como objeto de pesquisa o filme Hulk (2003). Para isso foi realizado um estudo sobre referenciais teóricos e epistemológicos sobre as concepções de ciência e atividade científica e como ela esta sendo representada no cinema. Foi utilizado o método de Análise Textual Discursiva para levantamento dos dados e através de categorias de análise foi discutida essa visão de ciência transmitida pelo filme. Foi possível assim identificar quatro categorias emergentes, sendo elas Rotina de Laboratório, Legitimidade da Ciência, Imagem de Ciência e Cientista e Conceitos Químicos. As categorias foram fundamentas por meio de afirmações popperianas. Por fim pode-se concluir que o filme não foge das concepções estereotipadas da figura de cientista e da ciência enraizada no imaginário popular, dando ênfase principalmente a efeitos visuais e deixando de lado, por vezes, os reais conceitos que circulam a temática de ciência envolvida no enredo do filme.

The cinematographic media is an important medium for transmitting conceptions about a certain theme or subject. One of the topics most approached by cinema is science and the figure of the scientist. Thinking about it, the work aims to analyze the vision of science that is shown in the cinema with the research object Hulk (2003). For this, a study was carried out on theoretical and epistemological references on the conceptions of science and scientific activity and how it is represented over time in the cinema. The Discursive Textual Analysis method was used to collect the data and through analysis categories, this vision of science transmitted by the film was discussed. It was possible to identify four emerging categories, being Laboratory Routine, Legitimacy of Science, Image of Science and Scientist and Chemical Concepts. The categories were based on Popperian statements. Finally, it can be concluded that the film does not escape the stereotyped conceptions of the figure of scientist and science rooted in the popular imaginary, emphasizing mainly visual effects and leaving aside sometimes the real concepts that circulate the thematic of science involved in the plot of the movie.
