ano no Brasil.
Science teaching, more specifically Chemistry, is one of the subjects where students find it most difficult to understand. However, Silva (2016), Gonçalves and Goi (2020), Penaforte and Santos (2014) and Gonçalves (2020) point out that experimental practices allow the student to have a better understanding, being able to take the knowledge acquired in the classroom into their daily lives. Increasing urbanization and industrialization, associated with the increase in population, have brought improvements in the quality of life. However, as a consequence, they were responsible for the contamination of some water resources and soil, through the release of effluent into bodies of water. Industries such as textiles use a large volume of dyes, releasing their effluents into bodies of water, often without proper treatment, polluting the environment. Agro-industries, in turn, also produce a very large amount of waste, called biomass. Among these wastes is rice husk, generating around 2 million tons of waste per year in Brazil. Therefore, to try to remedy these negative impacts caused to the environment, techniques have been studied to take advantage of this agro-industrial waste using them as an adsorbent to remove organic pollutants found in effluents. That said, as a teaching methodology, this work relies on a qualitative study carried out from the development of an educational product with a mini sustainability teaching project, entitled: Removal of aqueous dye via adsorption with rice husks: a didactic sequence for the high school. The educational product was applied to students in a third-year high school class. After construction and application, positive results were identified. In which, through observations and conclusions, it was found that the present work can contribute to the students' learning process, in addition to highlighting the development of a sustainable adsorbent from agro- industrial waste, thus forming a more sustainable mentality in students.
