Abstract:
O presente trabalho procurou investigar se a trajetória de vida de Maria da Graça da Silva Amaral enquanto protagonista do movimento negro da cidade do Rio Grande poderia ser compreendida a partir do espaço da Educação Ambiental Crítica. Para tanto, a partir de pesquisa qualitativa, de viés narrativo biográfico buscou-se compreender o contexto traçado por Maria da Graça da Silva Amaral enquanto liderança negra da cidade de Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, a partir de sua biografia pessoal e de sua atuação política. Trata-se de pesquisa que se justifica pelo resgate acadêmico da cultura e da história da população negra, com destaque aqui para a mulher negra. Verificou-se ao fim que a atuação de Maria da Graça da Silva Amaral nos diversos espaços sociais do município, em prol da consolidação do movimento negro pode ser considerada dentro de uma perspectiva de Educação Ambiental Crítica como um trabalho de emancipação dos sujeitos historicamente oprimidos pelo sistema racista, machista e patriarcal, uma vez que se concretizou a partir de atividades que promoveram a participação social, atuando assim Maria da Graça Amaral como uma Educadora Popular Ambiental.
The present work sought to investigate whether Maria da Graça da Silva Amaral’s life trajectory as the protagonist of the black movement in the city of Rio Grande could be understood according to Critical Environmental Education. Therefore, based on a qualitative research within the scope of biographical narrative, we tried to understand the context outlined by Maria da Graça da Silva Amaral as a black leader in the city of Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, from her personal biography and her political performance. This research is justified by the academic recovery of the black population’s culture and history, especially for black women. It was found at the end that the performance of Maria da Graça da Silva Amaral in the various social spaces of the municipality, in favor of the consolidation of the black movement, can be considered within the perspective of Critical Environmental Education as a work of emancipation of subjects historically oppressed by the racist, sexist and patriarchal system, since it was materialized on account of activities that promoted social participation, acting Maria da Graça da Silva Amaral as a Popular Environmental Educator.
